Pre-Summer Solstice

It has been a while since I have updated this. I have just been very busy. First of all my art work commissions have been slowly but steadily increasing. As I may have mentioned before I put a paining in Lawrenceville “Art All Night”. It was a great experience. Lots of great work. I sold my painting! I sold it for $40.00. I was very happy with that. Later in June I will be putting two paintings in to an art event called “The Melting Pot”.

In my home town spring fair “Clinton Spring Fair” I put in two paintings and won first and second place.

First place on =>

and second place on=>

Besides that I have had tattoo commissions, book marks and small paintings.

I’ve been going to the gym at least 6 days a week. I do a lot more jogging than I used to as well as more free weights. I have also started taking more specific vitamins and drink a lot more water.

Work… well work is work but I can tolerate it a lot more now. I still hate getting up in the morning but there are 2 or 3 people that have been making it a little (just a little mind you) more worth while.

In other news I have gotten a new lap top! I have always wanted one and now I have it! It is a (taken from the website) ThinkPad R Series R61e (765084U) Intel Celeron M 540(1.86GHz) 15.4" Wide XGA 512MB Memory 80GB HDD DVD/CD-RW Combo Intel GMA X3100 NoteBook” It’s a beauty! I also went out and bought a wireless mouse (refer to the pic) and a lap top back pack I will probably be using it a lot.

I also got a new car! The Saturn’s engine started to act weird and I found out that it’s rings were going bed. That would cost more than the car is worth to fix. SO, I got a used (new to me though) Mazda 2000 Protégé. It is BEAUTIFUL. It is my fav car. It works great, I love the colour, amazing sound system and a sun roof (never had one of those before)

Kokeshi I has! I started collecting Kokeshi dolls from Japan and have just totally fell in love with them. Here is a description from Wikipedia “Kokeshi (小芥子, kokeshi), are Japanese dolls, originally from northern Japan. They are handmade from wood, have a simple trunk and an enlarged head with a few thin, painted lines to define the face. The body has a floral design painted in red, black, and sometimes yellow, and covered with a layer of wax. One characteristic of Kokeshi dolls is their lack of arms or legs. The bottom is marked with the signature of the artist.Kokeshi was first produced by Kiji-shi (wood artisans) in Shinchi, in Togatta/Miyagi Prefecture from where Kokeshi making techniques spread to other spa areas in the Tōhoku Region. It is said that these dolls were originally made from the middle of the Edo period (1600-1868) to be sold to people who were visiting the hot springs in the north-east of the country.” Here is a funny flash movie that has kokeshi in it http://www.albinoblacksheep.com/flash/drum I love the music at the beginning btw : )

Nothing else really. Next time though I will be updating from my summer blog http://kellyinthesummer.blogspot.com/

P.s. I really want a Timmies’ coffee : (

So, yesterday I met up with my friend Becky and we went to take a Chinese Calligraphy lesson in Squirrel hill. The name of the store is Hao Mei Chinese Art. The teachers name is Kelly Young. We did the technique of calligraphy rather than just trying to reproduce. Next month on the 26th. After class Becky and I went to the Te Cafe link It's one of my fav new places to hang out. We had the Peppermint green tea and lemon scones. Mmm Mmm Mm

We then made a quick visit to A & C Link I love that art store.

Pretty exciting stuff to me. I will try (haha) to keep you all updated on my progress. I will try to catch you up on just what I have been doing all this time. There will be LOTS of pictures.
First of all was my birthday! This year on January 12th I turned 27. We had a few of my friends join us for dinner and then they all came over to play video games/have cake/horse around.

Here is the cake Adam got me. He thought that since I am Canadian we should have Canadian cake. I loved it. So cute.

Here is the interesting bottle of white wine that Anne found when we made a quick visit to the Liquor store. Lets all have a big glass of Royal Bitch! *lol*

Here is one of the gifts that I had gotten. I can't wait to try it with some orange juice or possibly on it's own. Yummy!

Next I visited my parents for a late Christmas (on the same weekend as my birthday) I have been and will be truly homesick. However we had a GREAT late Christmas. My aunt Pat and uncle Jon came over to celebrate. We had a nice dinner and then opened gifts. Here is a picture of the Christmas tree that my mom had set up in her basement room. I think it looked very beautiful with all the white lights.

Yesterday Adam's father got me Japanese Candy from his work place. They were pretty tasty. They were mostly puffed rice with a light sugar coating on them. And even a few were soy beans with a light sugar coating.

And finally... I started a new collection a couple weeks ago. As most of you know I am really in to Japanese culture (even more than anime) So I started to collect Kokeshi dolls. They originated in Northern Japane and later became popular at hot springs. THere are now two different kinds. I collect the older kind. I just find tem more interesting. Here is a picture (I am expecting a new one in the next two weeks)

Happy Holidays and such!

I thought that I would make a somewhat short entry for Christmas. I have four days off before I have to go back to my job (ugh). I've been a little busy... work... gym... work.. gym.. gym... art. And maybe a couple little Christmas activities mixed in there. One of which has been making Ginger bread cookies (I love ginger bread)

I did one commission and one gift art. The black framed one was done for my mother n law. I'm very proud of it.

The second one was for my friend for Christmas. I think she will like it.

Also a couple of weeks ago I got a new piece of body art... A navel ring. And I like it a lot actually. I got it done at this Click me! place. Very professional. Here is a picture for youre enjoyment.

Just another journal entry –

This entry is WAY over due I know. Sorry about that. These past 3 month’s have just felt so time consuming. This past Tuesday I just finished my Chinese Brush Painting class with Donna Haas. It was such a great 8 weeks, I really wish it didn’t have to end : (

I’ve also had a couple of art commissions coming up. I will be commenting more on them as I start. Also I will yet again be participating in the “Holiday Card Project 2007” on DeviantArt.com I have some sketches done and the paper and markers but not the actual cards yet : /

I’ve also been going to the gym. That is nothing new though I am sure. However, the routine has gotten much more difficult.

And because I feel soo bad about the lack of journal entries! Here is a new picture for you all to see. It’s me with my big British solder friend George.

Also, a small survey. Enjoy!

What I’ve been listening to:

Depeche Mode: Route 66, Master & Servant, Just Can’t get enough, Strange Love, Enjoy the Silence

New Tattoo...

Here's the new tattoo. I got it done at Lefty's in Oakland PA. It cost $75 and took 30 minutes. I drew out the original design and the tattoo artist just cleaned it up. I am very happy with it. The tattoo is located on my right hand ankle. :D

Happy Summer!

Sorry I missed the actual date. Lots of stuff going on… plus the usual lazy-ness.

Today I had some summer fun. First of all I went to the gym and did boot camp. It was fun. I kept up with everyone really well. And then I walked on the treadmill for about 15 minutes (needed to get my heart rate down). Then I went clothes shopping. I bought two new piece’s of clothing. Flaire jeans and new shorts (very cute/slimming). My jean size has gone from 11 to 9. I am very happy about that. I bought both piece’s of clothing at PAC sun. On Friday night I bought two new shirts as well. I got large size just because they will probably shrink (both 100% cotton) I bought this at Dirty Microbe and this at Cafe Press. I’ve been feeling pretty good about myself lately and decided that I deserve some new cute clothes.

After that Adam and I went to Linn Run State park. Was very VERY beautiful. We did about 40 minutes of hiking there. Then we went out for dinner. Now I am catching up on e-mails and blogg entries until we leave to watch the fireworks.

That’s all for this update! Laters

P.s., will post my new tattoo up in the next day or two.
